Gael Taca - Background

Gael-Taca is a marketing organisation for the Irish language. Based in Cork City, we predominantly serve the Cork City and County areas.

Gael-Taca has a positive attitude towards the language and is an independent, non-sectarian, non-political organisation recognised by An Roinn Gnóthaí Pobail, Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta, and by Foras na Gaeilge.

Gael-Taca aims to bring about a greater awareness of the vitality of the language and give you the opportunity to introduce Irish to your community.

Founded in Cork in 1987 at a came when eleven Gaelscoileanna (all-Irish schools) had been established in Cork County and City over a five year period, this remarkable growth reflected a new enthusiasm for the Irish Language.

The need to let the language live and to be seen outside of the school was obvious. Gael-Taca set about filling this need.

Gael-Taca receives a limited amount of public finance and the support of a community F.Á.S scheme. Subscriptions per the voluntary membership fee are much appreciated.
